Did you know the average window repacement lasts between 15 and 20 years?

Window Longevity
How long replacement windows last largely come down to factors such as quality and installation, how well they are maintained, they type of frame and finish, and of course the weather.
5 reasons to replace your windows?
1. Higher energy bills
If there is one gripe you will here in a local Hertfordshire pub, village shop or maybe a bus stop is the cost of everything going up!
Old and poorly maintained windows can have a big impact on how well your house is insulated leading to higher energy bills. Basically, they let cold air in and hot air out, and naturally, when our homes feel a little chilly we naturally reach for the thermostat to increase the temperature a degree or two.
2. Worn out through age, wear and tear
Wooden window frames tend to deteriorate the most and require more maintenance. They look fabulous and these days, are more often than not double glazed, and will last for a long time if they are looked after annually. However, in this day of age, when we are all working what seems harder and longer, maintaining windows can be overlooked and forgotten. But, once rot sets into wood, it is very hard to prevent the decay that follows.
Poor quality uPVc can discolour over time and isn’t immune to weather conditions and like wood can become warped, brittle and even crack or break allowing moisture to creep in forming condensation.
3. Soundproofing
Modern replacement windows do a much better job of permitting noise. Replacing new windows can drastically reduce noise and can really benefit homeowners who live in towns such as Stevenage, Harlow and Bedford where roads are busy with cars, buses and emergency services.
4. Struggling to open and close your windows?
There are multiple reasons for windows jamming. For wood, it could be that they have been painted, and as the paint has dried it has stuck them together, or for uPVC they many have warped due to the weather where they have expanded and retracted and houses do move, and as they do it can be possible for the window frame to no longer fit in place properly.
Struggling to open a window may not seem overly important, with a wiggle here and there, but windows serve an important role besides enabling light to flood in and for you to see out. In the event of an emergency, the could become your main exit route.
5. You still have single glazed windows
Single pane glass is far less efficient than double-pane glass. Replacing single-pane windows simply are not as effective nor give the benefits of their modern counterparts.
