In April 2002 the building regulations were changed to require compliance for certain home improvements and building works including replacement of domestic windows and doors. To simplify the procedures Competent Person Schemes were set up by the government to provide the necessary certification, as an alternative to using a local Authority or private Approved Inspector.
Certass is a Competent Person Scheme for the glazing industry. All Certass registered members are vetted to ensure they are qualified to carry out the replacement of windows and doors in accordance with the current Building Regulations.
